Autism Spectrum Disorders have early and frequent motor impairments. Older than motor symptoms described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, there are deficits in gross and fine motor skills, abnormal scan of objects, alterations in gait and posture, in grasping and handwriting skills and in motor anticipation. Throughout this article, we will review in depth the etiology and characteristics of the different motor abnormalities observed in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
