ABSTRACT
The theory formulated by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth on the attachment or affective link that is established between mother and son constitutes one of the most solid theoretical approaches in the field of the socio-emotional development. Far from turn debilitated with the passage of time, the above mentioned theory has met guaranteed and enriched by a great quantity of researches realized in the last years that have turned her into one of the principal areas of evolutive investigations.
In the present article they appear, departing from the initial approaches, the most recent contributions in this field, such as the intergenerational transmission of the security in the attachment, the differences between the type of attachment established with the father and with the mother, the multiple attachment to more than one figure, the relations between the security in the attachment and the day-care, the relations between temperament and attachment, and the cultural validity of the theory of the attachment.
